Introducing: Bar Tab in Bilt Hospitality for Dining

A great bar experience feels effortless for the guest. But for the operator, that’s not always the case. A card in a drawer, a walked tab at last call, and team members who spent their last hour chasing close-outs instead of pouring drinks.
What we built
Bar Tab inside Bilt Hospitality for Dining: a mobile checkout feature that lets guests open and close a tab from their own phone, and turns every bar guest into a known guest in Bilt's platform.
Why we built it
Dining partners have told us this frequently: guests at the table get recognized, rewarded, and reached with offers, but that’s not always the case at the bar. We built Bar Tab to help fix the operational disconnect first, and then to bring the bar into the same hospitality layer the rest of the restaurant already runs on.
What it actually does
Guests tap or scan a QR code on the bar, open a tab on their own phone, and close out whenever they're ready: no card handed over, no flagging down a bartender at the end of the night, and no physical card ever has to change hands. If a guest leaves without closing out, Bilt auto-closes the tab at the end of shift – without the bartender even needing to manage it.
Ultimately, every guest who opens a Bar Tab becomes a known guest. Operators can now see who's actually at the bar, reach them with tailored offers, and deliver the same recognition and hospitality they already give guests at the table.
Bilt already helps restaurants recognize and reward the guests at their tables. Bar Tab brings the bar into the mix, too.
