The First Million: Bilt Members Turn Points Into Impact

Starting at the end of August, we made it so that Bilt Members could put their points behind a cause for the first time. Just weeks later, you've made it count.
Bilt Members have donated more than 1 million Bilt Points in just five weeks to Global Citizen, Scholarship America, and Chrysalis.
Among the donations, we’ve seen an average donation of about 1,400 points, with some individual donations as high as 10,000 Bilt Points and many Bilt Members donating to more than one organization. Every one of those points was earned on housing payments, dinners out, workouts, and everyday life in your neighborhood, and every one of them is now going toward a variety of causes.
Where your points are going right now
Global Citizen is the world's largest movement to end extreme poverty. Points donated to Global Citizen support this year's campaign to get two million children into school, support 1.5 million smallholder farmers, and bring electricity to 2.5 million homes.
Scholarship America connects students with the scholarships they need to attend and complete college, with a focus on students living off campus who need help keeping a stable home while they earn their degree. Six in ten students can't afford college without financial help, making this a vital effort.
Chrysalis helps people facing barriers to employment, including housing instability, train for, find, and keep jobs. Through job-readiness training, individualized support services, and paid transitional employment, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit has been creating pathways to stability and self-sufficiency since 1984.
Why this matters
Bilt was built on the idea that where you live should work for you, and that your neighborhood should always be part of the equation. Earning rewards on rent and at the local spots you already love was the beginning; helping members build credit history and a path to homeownership came next. Along the way, Rent Day quickly became a monthly moment for members, and with collaborators like Madonna and A$AP Rocky, we've helped cover rent for members in all kinds of settings.
Putting your points behind a cause is a natural extension of that, which is why this is now part of Rent Day, from Global Citizen in September to John Legend and Scholarship America in October, where Bilt is helping cover rent for 50 students at four universities.
More organizations are on the way
We'll rotate featured charitable partners on an ongoing basis, so there will always be new ways to put your points to work. If you're a nonprofit organization interested in partnering with Bilt, we'd love to hear from you at media@bilt.com.
How to donate
Open the Bilt app, go to the Rewards tab, and scroll to ‘More ways to earn and redeem points’. You’ll then tap ‘Bilt Points Donation’, where you can choose an organization and select how many points you'd like to give. You can also use the Bilt Concierge to make your donation, or visit bilt.com/rewards/redeem/donations.
Thank you to every Bilt Member who has given so far. Here's to the next million.
