Bilt’s “Roomies” Wins Two People’s Voice Webby Awards at the 30th Annual Webby Awards
In Its Webby Awards Debut, Bilt’s Original Series Takes Home Video & Film Honors for Best Writing and Series, As Voted by the Public

NEW YORK, NY — April 21, 2026 — Bilt announced today that its original scripted series Roomies has won two People's Voice Webby Awards at the 30th Annual Webby Awards, taking home honors in Video & Film for Best Writing and Video & Film – Series. Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet. The People's Voice Award is determined entirely by public vote.
Roomies, the mockumentary series produced entirely in-house by Bilt, follows a 25-year-old from Ohio navigating life, roommates, and the realities of young adulthood in New York City. Launched in summer 2025 on its own dedicated social accounts — @RoomiesRoomiesRoomies across TikTok and Instagram — the series has amassed millions of views and a passionate, fully organically grown following.
"This all started with a simple but ambitious question: what if a brand made something people actually wanted to watch?" said Cyrus Ferguson, Senior Director of Content at Bilt. "We saw our members navigating such universal experiences: new cities, new roommates, new jobs, and thought there was a unique opportunity to build a world that reflected this reality. The fact that these awards were decided by public vote makes them mean that much more. It's the audience telling us that the writing landed, the story resonated, and Roomies earned a real place in their feed."
The People's Voice wins place Roomies in distinguished company. The Best Writing category recognizes the craft of writing in original digital and streaming content, independent of genre, with consideration given to technical ability, creative execution, and adherence to the standards of the craft. The Series category honors original digital content created on behalf of a brand that integrates its marketing message while simultaneously engaging and entertaining an audience. Together, these wins affirm what Bilt set out to prove: that branded content can be held to the same creative standards as any show a viewer chooses to watch.
"What our team built with Roomies is so unique and special. It captures what it means to be new somewhere: figuring out your neighborhood, your roommates, and your life," said Ankur Jain, Founder and CEO of Bilt. "That's the world Bilt exists in: your home and your neighborhood. The fact that the public found this, watched it, voted it the best, and that this is the first time we've ever entered the Webbys, says everything."
The People's Voice wins underscore what has set Roomies apart from the start: real audiences choosing to watch, follow, and advocate for a piece of branded content as though it were any other show they loved. Notably, this marks Bilt's first time entering the Webby Awards — making the two wins, decided entirely by public vote, all the more striking. Season 2 premiered during the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year in partnership with UTA, marking a milestone moment for brand-produced content on the festival stage.
Since its debut, Roomies has drawn broad industry attention, earning coverage from The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, The Los Angeles Times, Marketing Brew, and Rachel Karten's widely read newsletter Link in Bio, among others. Business Insider's Amanda Hoover described the series as genuinely funny and relatable — a rare distinction for branded content. The Wall Street Journal spotlighted Bilt's unconventional approach: building a loyal audience through authentic storytelling rather than interruptive advertising. Rachel Karten's Link in Bio featured an in-depth conversation with the Roomies creative team, calling out the series as a standout example of how brands can show up in the content space without getting in the way of the story.
"We've always said we want Bilt to be part of the cultural conversation, not interrupting it,” said Zoe Oz, Chief Marketing Officer of Bilt. Roomies was our most committed version of that idea. Having the public, not a jury, but actual viewers, vote it the best in both writing and series tells us it worked."
Roomies was produced entirely in-house by Bilt. Crew includes Cyrus Ferguson, Brooke Brazer, James Rockford, Sylvan Gu, Nick D’Agostino, and Daphne Ciccarelle, and cast consists of Maddie Land, Oleode Oshotse, Rhys Athayde, and Brooke Brazer.
Bilt will be honored at the 30th Annual Webby Awards in New York City on May 11, 2026, where winners will have the opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards' famous 5-Word Speeches. The ceremony will be hosted by Emmy-nominated comedian, creator, and The Daily Show correspondent Josh Johnson. Fans can follow and watch show highlights, including hallmark 5-Word Speeches, on May 11 by following @thewebbyawards on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube.
